Today is National Day in Singapore. Singapore became
independent 47 years ago. We have the day off and to celebrate National
Day we're having a BBQ much like we would back home. We've invited
some of our new friends to join us. There's a big parade and
celebration around Marina Bay. They've been practicing the celebration
every Saturday since we got here. It includes paratroopers, helicopters
carrying the Singapore flag, fighter jets, and fireworks. We hope to
watch the fireworks from our rooftop. As you can see National Day is a
very big deal here. Everywhere you go there are banners celebrating the
holiday. Here are a few of the ones we've seen.
