After spending the day at the Singapore Art Museum (SAM), we were very hungry. We knew about a Mexican food restaurant close by which got rave reviews from friends. You know we're always on the hunt for good Mexican food in Singapore!
After a wonderful meal, we were gloriously full and decided to take a stroll along Haji Lane where the restaurant was located. It was a hard-to-find alley near our first apartment in Bugis. We thought the street would just be filled with restaurants, but it turned out to be a boutique shoppers paradise.
After buying a few items we thought we'd head back home. However, Tony's attention was caught by a sign called "Bar Stories." I turned to see it and immediately remembered it was featured on an episode of Anthony Bourdain's "The Layover." We had to check it out. The place turned out to be a dark and swanky bar where there was no menu. You told the waiter whether you wanted the drink to be sweet or sour, fruity or refreshing, and any preference in liquor. Then a concoction is especially made for you.
During the evening, we made new friends with the people sitting next to us. They were expats as well from New Hampshire, Australia, England, and Philippines. They easily convinced us to have round three of drinks.
