Yes, We're Tourists

After 20 hours of travel, we fell into a deep and restful sleep for 12 hours. Take that jet lag! We realized it was close to dinner time when we woke up so we cracked open the shutters and started our day.

Tony didn't start work until Monday so it gave us time to be tourists in our new city. The first thing we did was enjoy some local food. Footsteps from our place was this bustling noodle stand with whole ducks hanging in the window. We picked this joint based on the mesmerizing aroma. What a great first meal!

Next stop on our tour was the new Marina Bay Sands Hotel: http://www.marinabaysands.com/Sands-SkyPark.  The hotel was a marvelous site located along the river with the Art & Science Museum at the foot of it. The top floor looked like a huge surfboard and housed a restaurant, sky park, and expansive infinity pool. We didn't go to the top floor this time since we'd be back for my birthday. Also in the hotel was a casino and shopping mall with high-end retailers and restaurants. It reminded me of the Crystals shopping center in Las Vegas.

Later that evening, we visited the famous Raffles Hotel which was a 10 minute walk away. The Raffles housed the Long Bar where the Singapore Sling drink was created. Of course we had to have our obligatory tourist drink (or two). Tony had the classic one, while I guzzled the "Summer" and "Tropical" variations. Sweet and delicious!
