Since being in Singapore we've had a lot of great Asian food but nothing that was considered truly Singaporean. That changed when we went to the Maxwell Hawker Center and had chicken rice. We ate at Tian Tian Hiananese Chicken Rice stand made famous by Anthony Bourdain on his Layover show. While chicken rice does not look the most appealing, it can be quite tasty and this place was one of the best. They boil the chicken so it stays very moist and the rice is cooked with the chicken drippings and fat. The rice was very delicious and we washed it all down with some watermelon juice. We were happy we finally got the chance to eat true Singaporean food.
The line to order. There was an equally long line to pick up your food.

A Singaporean feast.
YUM!
After we finished the rice it was raining so we had dessert. My favorite, red bean sesame ball.
